Top seeded players are in top form at the Family Circle Cup WTA tournament. Jelena Jankovic and Russian Dinara Safina have entered into the 3rd round of the Family Circle Cup. On the other hand, unseeded players like Venus Williams and the winner at Amelie Island tournament Tatiana Golovin is also looking in good touch. The only upset in the second round was implemented by Peng Shuai of China who defeated sixth seed Patty Schnyder 1-6 6-3 6-3.

Second seed Jankovic thrashed Russian qualifier Anastassia Rodionova 6-1 6-1 while Marat Safin sister Dinara was just too good for fourth seed Eleni Daniilidou beating her in straight set 6-3 6-4. Jankovic will now play Italy’s Mara Santangelo in the third round while 12th ranked Safina faces the challenge of Lourdes Dominguez.

Venus Williams who was ousted by Tatiana Golovin in the Amelia Island defeated Russia’s Vasilisa Bardina, 6-2 6-1 in just 49 minutes. Golovin, who won her first tour tournament last week at Amelia Island, simply destroyed Jill Craybas 6-0 6-1 with the assistance of her powerful serve.
